About Me

My name is Hannah Mayo. I want to change the world one piano student at a time and help other piano teachers do the same.

I am Hannah Mayo and this is Mayo Piano – a place to realize a lifetime of music potential.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Pedagogy and a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where I was awarded the Phi Beta Kappa Masters Award. I continue to teach class piano and some private lessons as an adjunct professor at UL Lafayette.

I began teaching piano, as a pedagogy intern, at ULL in 2006. In 2012, I became the in-house early childhood music and piano teacher at the REACH Preschool Institute. I continued growing an independent teaching studio and in 2014, established Hannah Mayo Music, now named Mayo Piano.

I am proudly certified by both the Music Teachers National Association and the Louisiana Music Teachers Association and I’m currently serving as VP Publicity for LMTA.

Following the principles of Dr. Edwin Gordon’s research-based Music Learning Theory, I aim to promote genuine musical understanding and participation for every student as they follow an ideal music learning timeline that optimizes learning at every age and stage of development.

I also educate other teachers on MLT principles as a team member of Music Learning Academy where I am involved in many projects, my favorite of which is the Keys to Music Learning Podcast with my co-host and friend, Krista Jadro.
